Why Donate?
Why is it that most individuals make the assumption that if there’s a problem that it’s the government’s responsibility to fix it? That’s not the way it works, nor is it the way that things should be. When a problem or crisis arises, it is solved by individuals. Individuals are moved to act and to respond—not institutions. Historically, charity comes from individuals—not from the government. Texans are known for helping one another and for taking the initiative. It’s high time that Texans—not the government—do something for Texas.
Our Texas Governor’s mansion was recently damaged by a devastating fire. As a Texan, I am moved to act. And, I’m sure I am not alone. Texans are known for helping one another and taking the initiative.
Are you aware that state-owned buildings are not insured? Most likely, the money that will be used for reconstruction and repairs of the Governor’s Mansion will be funded by taxpayers—which is ALL OF US.
The Governor’s Mansion will be reconstructed with taxpayer funds—either directly or indirectly. Since our tax dollars are going to be spent on this project anyway, why not receive a tax-deduction, and at the same time communicate throughout our United States that Texans take care of Texans.
If every Texan will donate roughly the value of one gallon of gasoline—$4.00—we can raise $100,000,000 for reconstruction. Mountain Movers International (a Texas-based non-profit organization) has put together a fund called www.texanscometogether.org. Mountain Movers serves as a bridge between resources and needs. We exist to encourage serving and giving. All donations to restore our Texas Governor’s Mansion will be tax deductible.
It’s high time that Texans come together to do something for Texas!
